There is something special about the interior design brand Schumacher, and this is reflected in S is For Style, a stunning coffee table book, by their creative director Dara Caponigro.

I really like the format of the book; there are 16 chapters which each explore a different interior design style. The chapters start with an introduction that says ‘it’s your style if…’ and then describes what your personality might be like, or where you might go on holiday or what you may like to wear. It’s fun and relatable. Key ingredients to the style movements are given, such as materials, use of colour, textures, plus a mood board, and of course there is lots of inspirational and aspirational interior shots.

Also it’s a really big, satisfying book. There is so much content and the pages are large enough to see every little detail.

I definitely to some categories more than others, mainly Laid Back (painterly patterns, texture on texture, arrangements made with foraged flora), Happy Modern (graphic patterns, loads of natural light, a sense of play), Warm Modern (personal mementos, handcrafted objects, art photography, a love of story), Trad with a Twist (traditional patterns with unexpected nuances, contemporary art, curisoity, a touch of drama, a desire to be different but not revolutionary).

It’s a lovely book to go back to each time I want to decorate a room, or get some inspiration for my pattern design.

This book is obviously a great point of reference for interior designers, or for renovating your home but it’s also a great resource for styling your home.
