FLOWER COLOUR GUIDE BOOK REVIEW
My French parrot tulip watercolour study & the Flower Colour Guide
Darroch and Michael Putnam’s Flower Colour Guide is a small but mighty book and a great resource for gardeners, florists, floral enthusiasts and any artists who take inspiration from flowers.
Inside there is useful information about flower care, tools, preparing vases, suggested colour palettes and sustainability. Each flower even has a small tear out chip (like Pantone), which is really useful if you want to have a play with colour combinations (not that I can bring myself to tear them out mind you).
Each page of the book showcases a different flower (an impressive 400 in total), photographed against a pure white background which is great for clear reference. Every colour and tone is represented here, from expected to the unexpected (think green flowers with a hint of colour, that feels very modern).
